FisTx, a leading aquaculture technology innovation company in Indonesia, proudly announces the soft launch of the country's first electrolysis technology specifically designed to support shrimp farming. The launch event took place at the Brackish Water Aquaculture Unit in Congot, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Province, Indonesia. It was attended by a diverse range of stakeholders, including shrimp farmers, business partners, and government representatives.

The electrolysis technology introduced by FisTx aims to address various challenges faced by shrimp farmers, such as suboptimal water quality and high operational costs. By utilizing this innovative solution, farmers can efficiently manage pond water quality, enhance productivity, and minimize environmental impact.

What is electrolysis?

Electrolysis is an electrochemical process that utilizes an electric current to break down chemical compounds into their constituent components. In aquaculture systems, electrolysis produces hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and chloride ions, which help increase oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) and stabilize water quality.

The basic principle involves the use of specially arranged electrodes. When an electric current passes through the system, the electrolysis process generates active compounds, including hypochlorite ions (OCl-). These compounds act as disinfectants, inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria through redox (reduction-oxidation) reactions.

Key advantages of FisTx electrolysis technology:

  • Eliminates 99% of Pathogenic Bacteria: The electrolysis technology generates hypochlorous acid (HOCl), effectively addressing common water quality issues faced by shrimp farmers, such as the presence of harmful pathogens.
  • Breaks Down Harmful Organic Compounds (NH3): Contaminated water containing organic waste and feed residues can hinder shrimp growth and health. Through oxidation processes, the electrolysis technology decomposes these harmful substances, ensuring a healthier aquatic environment.
  • Enhances Sustainability in Aquaculture: By maintaining water quality and reducing reliance on chemical additives, the technology promotes more sustainable farming practices, helping farmers operate their businesses with a reduced environmental footprint.
  • Boosts Harvest Yields and Product Quality: The implementation of this technology increases dissolved oxygen levels, accelerating organism metabolism and reducing stress in shrimp. These improvements lead to higher yields and superior product quality for shrimp farmers.
  • Reduces Operational Costs: Electrolysis technology lowers operational expenses by decreasing the need for water treatment chemicals and waste management solutions. This provides a more environmentally friendly and cost-efficient alternative for shrimp farming operations.

Panel discussion held during the soft launch event

The soft launch of electrolysis technology marks an innovative milestone with significant benefits for shrimp farming in Indonesia. In his address, FisTx CEO Rois Mubarok stated, “FisTx is committed to delivering innovative solutions that empower shrimp farmers across Indonesia. This electrolysis technology is the result of intensive research and development, which we believe will bring transformative changes to Indonesia’s aquaculture industry, particularly in improving productivity and sustainability.”

The event featured a presentation on FisTx's electrolysis technology, a panel discussion, and a live demonstration of the system at the Brackish Water Aquaculture Unit in Congot. Diduk Kristina Hendra, Head of the Brackish and Marine Aquaculture Technology Development Section at BPTPB DIY, expressed support, saying, “We highly appreciate and fully endorse this new electrolysis product from FisTx for advancing aquaculture, especially in enhancing water quality for farming environments. We hope this tool becomes a practical solution for shrimp farmers.”
